Ignite Showcase
Defensive Back Breakdown
Darius McGrew, Newsome 2014 CB
Knew nothing about this prospect till Saturday. Did well in individual drills, but really showed out during one on ones vs the receivers. Had several pass break ups and a big time interception that made the coaches “Wow”!
Cordell Hudson, Largo 2014 CB
This could be the start of something big for Hudson. Long, rangy, good eye discipline, fast hands, explosive and hand/eye coordination. Cordell was lock down. Nothing less. 99% of the receiver that stepped in front of him during one on ones, he clamped down. BCS caliber prospect!
Ray Ray McCloud, Sickles 2015 CB
McCloud pretty much solidified his spot in the Spring BCP Fire 49 ranking. Excellent at WR and CB. Showed loose hips, great feet, balance and skill.
Mazzi Wilkins, Plant 2014 CB
May have been a tie for the second best CB performance at Ignite. He and Chavez Pownell were great. Wilkins has great balance. His best assets as a cover corner is his understanding of man to man coverage. Easy to see that he has been coached well. Athletic and technical, which will make him an attractive BCS prospect.
Keon Brown, East Lake 2014 CB
Saying it now, “If Keon Brown continues to improve his footwork, hipĀ and ball skills, he will rival any CB in Pinellas County for the #1 spot”. He was really good in ever facet Saturday!.
Terrence Baldwin, Robinson 2014 CB
Knights have a good one here. Good feet and long arms. Quick decision maker and skilled athlete. Baldwin showed promise during individual drill work and excepted coaching. Has a chance to be really good for Robinson and one of the top CBs in Hillsborough County.
Brandon Peters, Robinson 2014 S
Safety MVP, nuff said! Made play, after play, after play during one on ones. Lots of pass break ups and a few interceptions. If a receiver caught a ball on him, he was not running much further after as Peters was in his pocket.
Devin Abraham, East Lake 2014 S
The only question is, how high will he be ranked on our Fire 49 ranking? Solidified that he is one of the top players in the area. Fast feet and great technique.
Amani Oruwariye, Gaither 2014 CB
This has got to be a big year for Amani, because it was a huge Saturday for him. The young man covers a lot of ground and has a great frame to fill out. Saturday he went toe to toe with the best and stood tall.
Donnell Taylor, King 2014 CB
This young man has a chance. Awesome feet, nice size and good speed. A no name that could develop into a solid name recruiters will follow.
Chavez Pownell, Jefferson 2014 CB
He was just flat out good on Saturday. Receivers had a hard time creating separation versus Pownell. He was all over the place. Played the deep ball well, broke on the short routes and gathered himself on the intermediate routes. Great performance!
