“I fight for every yard” – Nathan Johnson, Sunlake

Nathan Johnson, Sunlake

Nathan Johnson, Sunlake 2015 RB led his Seahawks to a 9- 2 2013 season with a lot of drama and plenty of big moments. There were high expectations for Johnson headed into the season. But, not many expected Johnson to do what he did.

Of the 412 rushing attempts by Sunlake last year, Johnson was responsible for 252 of them. Of the 2119 rushing yards accumulated by Sunlake last season, Johnson rushed for 1504 of those yards. 25 rushing TDs for the team, Johnson was the owner of 16 of those. YEP…pretty good season for Johnson.

The buck doesn’t stop there for the rising senior. Johnson is hungry for another productive season to help his team advance to their ultimate goal and increase his recruitment. One of the toughest RBs in the area looks and sounds the part.

BCP: What is your best asset as a RB?

Johnson: Best asset as a RB is my power. I’m strong all around so it is pretty tough to bring me down. I fight for every yard.

BCP: What goes through your mind when you take the handoff from your QB?

Johnson: When I take the handoff from the QB I’m thinking of doing whatever it takes for me to get into the end zone.

BCP: Who was the best defensive player you have played against thus far in your high school football career?

Johnson: Shaheed Salmon (Land O’Lakes 2014 DE) he could play anywhere on the defense and was very athletic.

BCP: Are you a leader or great follower and why?

Johnson: I’m a leader. My teammates believe in me and they see me working hard, they push twice as hard. They’re always competing with me.

BCP: What should we expect this your from #28?

Johnson: What you should expect from me this year is production. That’s all that matters. Last year doesn’t matter. It’s all about this year and to show off how hard me and the rest of my team worked this offseason. You should expect great things this year even bigger than last year.
