Human Highlight Reels: Top 5 Playmakers Kicking Off the Season Right

BCP, September 5, 2018 – Don’t blink! Or else you’ll miss these top 5 plays from HSFB’s young and talented offensive studs taking names and dropping jaws- all in an action-packed span of 2 regular season games, I might add. Here’s a BCP run-down replay of 5 count em’ 5 crazy dope plays showing no mercy, stirring that recruiting pot.

#5- Pinellas Park 2020 RB Lawrance Toafili- Counting down and sitting pretty at number 5, we have 6’ 190-pound running back Lawrance Toafili who plays both football and basketball for the Patriots with his staggering build. Bursting through the pile, Lawrance stays on his feet with a tremendous center of balance, putting his sheer agility and acceleration on display, shaking two defenders in the opposite direction towards the sideline to create a path for himself, bringing this near 60-yard run all the way to the house! In two games played, Pinellas Park has blown out their opponents by at least 40 points, and so far Lawrance has accumulated 362 rushing yards on 20 carries, running in 5 TD’s!

#4- Tampa Catholic 2019 RB Jalen Bussey- Stocky but dynamic 5’8” 165-pound back Jalen Bussey hushed the defense with this run; almost stuffed behind the line of scrimmage, his quick instinctive vision allows him to change his running path, leaving two defenders in the dust and out of their cleats and throws in a nasty stiff-arm on another would-be tackler sending him 6 feet under, as he dives for the pylon for a Crusader touchdown! “ICE UP SON!” retired NFL star WR Steve Smith used to say. Bussey has collected 70 rushing yards on 12 touches and 1 rushing score, averaging 5.8 per carry in two games thus far.

#3- Hernando High 2019 RB/OLB David Bronson- Another back with a smaller frame but big contributions for his team is 5’9” 170-pound running back and outside linebacker David Bronson who showcased his versatility, scanning the field with tunnel vision as he bobs and weaves through traffic flawlessly, gives a nice little stiff-arm to a defender and hauls a 97-yard kick return TD practically un-touched, courtesy of key special team’s blocks, landing this highlight smack dab in the middle at 3 of this impressive countdown. Bronson has totaled 178 rushing yards on 16 carries and counting, posting 2 touchdowns up to this 2-game point, 1 rushing, 1 KOR.

#2- Chamberlain 2021 RB Antony Guzman- whose stats not listed in Maxpreps’ data, has a set of absolute WHEELS on his feet, exploding through the defensive gap with un-touchable breakaway speed, out-striding everyone by a mile- leaving most tacklers with only a glance at the back of his jersey; the ones who did have an angle on Guzman were sent flying as Antony stopped ON A DIME to surpass the rest of the defense, adding 6 to the Chief’s scoreboard.

#1- Lakeland 2019 WR Chris Howard- Now, last but far from least, achieving the #1 spot on this BCP list, 5’10” 175-pound senior wide receiver Chris Howard showcasing his elusiveness and agility, dodging NINE defenders on this screen route, demonstrating an excellent set of brakes as well with some filthy jump cuts making tacklers run into each other, setting himself up for an easy 30-yard score or more. Howard has collected 71 receiving and 21 rushing yards on 2 catches and 4 carries, with 11 punt-return yards to add to his stat-sheet in these first two games.
