Hoops: Chamberlain rules King

The Chamberlain Chiefs moved to .500 on the season, defeating King 85-56. Chamberlain set the tone early. Winning the tip, which led to a big two hand dunk by junior F Rashawn Federicks. The Chiefs dominated the glass on both ends of the floor and took advantage of King’s lack of scorers. King G, Rashad Green was the only true scoring threat for the Lions ending the first quarter with 8 points, but team losing to the host team 27-13 at the end of the first period.

Ronald Blount provided a scoring spark off the bench for Chamberlain. He and King G, Rashad Green led all scorers with 21 points. Blount hit 5 three pointers on his way to 21 points and showed good court vision finishing with a handful of assist. At the half, the home team led 46-24.

Chamberlain did not let up. The Cheifs poured it on with a big dose of Rashawn Federick and Mike Dileo in the paint. 18 points for Frederick and 14 for Dileo at the last horn, but both were dominant in the paint. Federick showed great length, blocking shots, showing good perimeter defense and pulling down boards left and right. Dileo was strong on the glass. Kept the ball high and earned some tough points from offensive put backs.

Overall, King struggled to produce scoring outside of Rashad Green. Guards Nieves and Williams both contributed 12 points, but was not enough to pull the score closer to the high tempo Chiefs.
