Hawks victorious vs. Packers

The tone for the upset was set on the first play of the game, as Largo fumbled on the opening kickoff, giving Armwood a short field and an eventual 3-0 lead.

It would be mostly downhill from there for the Packers, as four first half turnovers led to a 10-0 halftime advantage for the Hawks, and Armwood (8-3) spoiled the undefeated regular season that Largo racked up in a 10-6 road win in the Class 6A regional quarterfinal televised live by Bright House Sports Network.- BHSN FULL STORY

Uncharacteristic plays by Largo and good, but not great play by Armwood, keeps the Hawks playoff road pointing towards Orlando. Alvin Bailey was steady. He did not post incredible numbers or have a bunch of incredible plays, but he did what Armwood needed him to do. He managed the offense, limited the turnovers and picked up key first downs in the final moments of the game.

The Hawk defense bent, but did not break. They accounted for several sacks, a few tackles for loss and 3 interceptions. Jarvis Stewart, Largo RB never really got going. He was contained for the most part, but started moving the pile late in the game when Largo was making a run to take the lead.

Largo QB, Juwan Brown started the game hot. Picked on the young, inexperienced Armwood corners for a few big plays early in the game. However, he threw three interceptions (one questionable) which gave Armwood good field position.

Largo 2014 LB, Frankie Hernandez was a beast. If there was a tackle to be made, he was on it. The Armwood defensive line applied pressure all night with a three and four man rush. Keeping Brown from getting comfortable in the pocket.  Armwood senior safety, Leon McQuay had a big game on defense including a interception in the final minute of the 3rd quarter.

Besides being the beneficiary of seven turnovers, Armwood also blocked a field goal attempt to go along with the point-after block that kept a potential four points off the board for the Packers. – BHSN
