UPDATE 4/26/12

The game has been approved. Gibbs and Armwood will meet in the preseason Fall Football Classic. Head coaches Antonio Knox and Sean Callahan agreed to play in the game on April 21, but the game was made official when it was approved by school administration earlier today, Knox confirmed in a text message.

Gibbs will host Armwood on on August 24. Knox said in a text message that the Gladiators were very excited about the opportunity to play one of the best teams in the nation.

Gibbs head coach Antonio Knox and Armwood head coach Sean Callahan have agreed to play in the preseason Fall Football Classic.

The game will have to be approved by both school’s administration, but if approved will be at Gibbs High School.

Gibbs previously agreed to play Tarpon Springs, but with Armwood needing a game coach Knox wanted his young Gladiators to play the reigning state champions.

Due to the game swap, Tarpon Springs is now looking for a new preseason opponent. If anyone is interested in playing the Spongers contact head coach Ron Hawn at HawnR@pcsb.org.
