This Year’s “Versus Their Schedule” Today we look at Gaither. Below is the Cowboys’ 2014 football schedule and the series between each team they will play this year.

Vs. Chamberlain, The Rivalry. By the numbers it is very much one sided. Chambo leads the all time series 24-7 having won 13 of the 16 games played since 2000. Gaither brings in a revamped offense as Chamberlain is slowly but surely earning their respect back. No super stars for either team RIGHT NOW. Just a bunch of hungry players ready to keep the bad blood flowing.

Vs. Newsome, The Cowboys are 0-3. This was very interesting to see that previous coach Mark Kantor nor current coach Jason Stokes has ever defeated Ken Hiscock at Newsome. The Wolves have outscored the Cowboys 114-33 in their previous meetings. Gaither must find a way to slow down Newsome running back, Bruce Anderson if they want to get a win in this series.

Vs. Plant, Gaither is 4-5. Newbies to the area would find this interesting. Likely to think “How could Plant lose to Gaither?” Well, Gaither won 4 straight games versus the Mighty Panthers prior to 2007. After that it has been all Plant, winning 5 straight games (2007-2013).

Vs. Freedom, Gaither has been solid. The Patriots have not defeated The Cowboys since 2009. Gaither holds a 7-2 series lead including last season’s 17-0 shutout in a much more competitive game than the score indicates.

Vs. Durant, The two teams split the series 1-1. Durant has bragging right currently after beating Gaither 26-0 in 2013.

Vs. Wiregrass, Gaither is 3-0 and has out scored the Bulls by 82 points. Wiregrass has had another coaching change. Will it help the Bulls get out the lasso of the Cowboys?

Vs. Sickles, Gaither holds a slight lead. 8-6 series lead to be exact. Gaither still the Big Bro in that neck of the woods. But, Ray-Ray McCloud III is “That Dude” in that same neck of the woods. According to Maxpreps, Sickles has defeated Gaither the last three times (2013, 2010, 2009). Prior to that Gaither rattled of three straight wins of their own. This is what a rivalry is about. Schools separated by a handful of miles, wins shared by both teams and some bad blood!

Vs. Tampa Bay Tech, Gaither lead this series 12-5. Check this out:

Vs. Steinbrenner, Big brother doesn’t lose. 4-0 are the Cowboys versus the Warriors. Alonso, Gaither, Sickles, Steinbrenner all in that area of town, geographic location where a rivalry has flourished. However, Gaither is in the driver’s seat but Steinbrenner made a statement this summer during the 7 on 7 circuit and in the preseason classic. What will this season hold?

Vs. Plant City, Gaither is 5-12. It’s been tough on the boys from North Dale versus the Boys from East Hillsborough County. PC has leaned on Gaither the last 5 seasons, winning all those games. Both teams will likely be in the playoff hunt at the end of the season and at the peek of their game. This one should be good!
