Friday Morning Campus Digest: All Over It

Tarpon Springs @ Northeast
All Over It – Chris Girandola

Distractions off the field, including FHSAA violations by both schools and the firing of Tarpon Springs coach Atif Austin, headline the week’s encounter between Northeast and Tarpon Springs. The Vikings will be without starting QB Ryan Davis and the Spongers will be missing star receiver Dondre Daley , who will not play for the second consecutive game while the school looks into eligibility issues regarding the Anclote transfer and possibly without QB Louie Pappas.

Lakewood @ Middleton
All Over It – Derrick Roberts

This should be a very exciting district game with expectation of the home team to come out and play very hard to get their first victory of the season. Lakewood has the oppurtunity to gain more momentum in their season to remain undefeated. Although one of the best players in the nation will more than likely still be serving his suspension, Dante Fowler, they will still be plenty of talent to go around. ATH Richard Benjamin will be on display attempting to get his Tigers on the right track. Lots of action, big plays and energy is the theme of this game.

Dixie Hollins @ Clearwater
All Over It – Kyle Bennett

Dixie Hollins will be playing its third consecutive road game, looking for its first win in that stretch when they take on Clearwater High. CHS is still looking for its first win this year and have been outscored 117-41 in its three losses. I [Kyle Bennett] expect Dixie to win this game. They have had the tougher schedule, and even in its four losses the Rebels have kept the games fairly close. Clearwater receiver Brandon Leston is the most intriguing guy on the field for either team. He is 6-2 195 and playing at Clearwater after a year at CCC. He is rated as the BCP No. 3 slot receiver in the 2012 class and appears to have the skills to be a formidable D1 prospect.

This matchup will ultimately come down to Clearwater’s ability to get the ball to its playmakers to keep up with the offense of Dixie Hollins, who is averaging more than 27 points per game to the Tornadoes’ 13 plus. CHS has allowed 39 points per game and it doesn’t appear they will be able to stop Dixie Hollins.

Prediction:
Dixie Hollins 34
Clearwater 20

Armwood @ Jefferson
All Over It – Doug Pugh

I’m [Doug Pugh]expecting to see Matt Jones’ Dreadlocks flapping in the breeze early and often. I suspect the Hawks want to (and think they can) bully Jefferson and will pick and choose their spots with the pass which means Alvin Bailey must be shut down. Their LB’s and Safeties MUST play their assignment perfectly or the Hawks will only need to throw about 10-15 times to accomplish what they’re trying to do in that aspect. When Jefferson’s on offense, they’ve got to win the trenches early or it’s going to get ugly. Won’t matter who is under center or running the routes. QB’s must make good decisions or L3 [Leon McQuay] and crew will eat them alive. Going to take a perfect game from the Dragons, but I’m not going to throw dirt on them by any means just yet.

Admiral Farragut @ Carrollwood Day
All Over It – Eric Clark

1. CDS has a very nice field with a good back drop over the lake also this week I [Eric Clark]will bring some cash because the barbeque was smelling very good from the concession stand.

2. At the beginning of the season this game looked liked it would be for the district but now both teams have a loss and need to win to stay in the district race. Both teams are also spurned with injuries with Admiral Farragut looking to be reeling more. I really want to see the depth these teams have and who is able to overcome their injuries and get the win.

3. Robert Davis or Todderick Macon who’s the better back. I was hoping to see Davis vs. Givens or Jenkins but both will miss this game with injuries.

East Lake @ Largo
All Over It – Eric Clark

1. Who would have thought that one of these teams will end up 2-3 after this game? This game will show me exactly what these 2 teams are made of. I want to see is Largo deep enough to make a run and does East Lake have enough heart to capture their district.

2. Battle of the QB’s Juwan Brown vs Pete Dinivo. These are arguably two of the best QB’s in Pinellas this year but neither have blown the world away yet. I am looking to see who is going to have the breakout game here.

3. Battle of the RB’s Tyler Lane vs Jarvis Stewart. This is more of a battle of RB vs Defense than anything. I think Largo’s defense is better and Stewart will have the better game.

4. Battle of the WR’s the super sophomores in Artavis Scott and Raheem Harvey will go head to head as well. These 2 will headline the 2014 class and we get to see now if either has that “IT” factor to help their team win.

Wharton @ Durant
All Over It – Hanna Yi

This is going to be an interesting game. Durant has a pretty solid run game if I’m not mistaken, while Wharton has a killer air game. I’m excited to see what Wharton QB Chase Litton can do in pads after watching him over the summer. This game might be one of the more physical games this week, and could possibly come down to the last minute. Even though it’s not a district game, I still expect strong competition as both teams are trying to make their ways onto proving that they are the real deal. Excited about this match-up!
