As the Winter 49 Player Rankings are being shuffled, many players have stood out. But, safeties often get overlooked. Freedom’s 2013 S, Nate Godwin is an underrated player who contributed consistently the last 2 seasons. He has good size, standing at 5-11/185lbs and plays excellent as a run stopper in the box. His coverage is equally effective with good speed and jumping ability, making him a very well-rounded defender. He’s not a huge playmaker, but reads quarterbacks’ eyes well and commits few errors. In 2011 his Maxpreps stats: 30 solo tackles, 45 total; 1 int, 5 PD, 30 carries for 227 yards and 3 TDs.
