SPRING FIRE 49

Hillsborough and Pinellas County Top 49 Players

EARLY EDITION

LIST CREATED BY BCP STAFF MEMBERS

1 Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep, 2012, ATH 6-2 180

| Going to be one of the hottest debated topics of this entire offseason and into the regular season about who’s better him or Dante Fowler, but we’re going with “Mr. Everything” for Berkeley. Speed, power, and a high football IQ are also in his arsenal in addition to his 6’2” 185lb frame.  Don’t let the size of the school fool you either, this kid is special. He is virtually a one-man machine for the Buccaneers.

2 Dante’ Fowler, Lakewood, 2012, DE 6-3 239

| A completely destructive force at the Defensive End position. Verbally committed to play for Jimbo Fisher and the Seminoles after this year and at 6’3” 225 looking to become; make that WILL become a household name amongst the nation’s elite this fall.

3 Tyriq Mccord, Jefferson, 2012, DE 6-4 220

| Could be the physical twin of Fowler only slightly bigger and will compete with his Bay Area companion from Pinellas for #1 Defensive End this year. Going to be the biggest name on the roster for the reigning 3A (Now 5A) State Champions. Will hold offers from every major D1 Program by the time he’s done playing in Carver City.

4 Jeremi Powell, Pinellas Park, 2012, LB/RB 6-2 200

| A surprise to some, but if you follow even an ounce of Pinellas County Football you would instantly recognize this versatile 6’2” 200lb University of Florida Commit. Had 15 sacks from his LB position and averaged over 21 yards a reception out of the backfield as well last year for the Patriots. Pay attention to this young man in the fall. You’ll probably thank us for it.

5 Matt Jones, Armwood, 2012, RB 6-3 210

| We can debate who the #1 is at several positions, but RB is not one of them; especially if you live in Hillsborough County. The future Gator is looking to improve on an impressive 1,250+ yard season in addition to his 22 TD’s for the Hawks. He will be the workhorse for a ‘Wood Program that is expecting to be playing in Orlando in December

6 Eric Striker, Armwood, 2012, OLB 6-0 193

| This 6’0” 195lb OLB loves to carry out the action stated in his last name; and with great passion and pride. Striker anchors a Linebacker Corps that is a part of arguably one of the most talented Defenses in the entire State of Florida. His mailbox will quickly runneth over once his talents are showcased in the Hawks nationally-televised game in Las Vegas in August; if not already.

7 Leon McQuay III, Armwood, 2013, S 6-2 180

| Official coming-out party was against Plant with 3 Interceptions, some might have argued before that. Regardless, this member of the Class of 2013 is already embarked on a meteoric rise to becoming one of the highest sought-after recruits this area has seen in years. Don’t be surprised if he’s sitting atop this list come next year at this time. L3 can play anywhere in the defensive backfield or at corner in any situation.

8 Greg Windham, King, 2012, QB 6-2 195

| The highest rated quarterback in the Fire 49 will lead the Lions into the toughest district in the state this fall on the foundation of a 1,300+ yard season and a 3-to-1 TD to INT ratio. Possesses a bazooka for an arm and can make plays with his 6’2” 195lb frame.

9 Pete Dinovo, East Lake, 2013, QB 6-2 190

| The debate about the #1 QB in the Bay Area will be just as heated as the Defensive End position and it’s because of how quickly this Class of 2013 gunslinger has shot up the list. Can make every throw you ask of him, and still may not be done growing at 6’2” 185lbs. Shows uncanny composure for a Sophomore already and will lead what may be Pinellas’ best team headed into the fall.

10 Gary Simon, Gibbs, 2012, WR/CB 6-1 173

| Has great size at 6’1” 190lbs and is a human highlight reel for the Gladiators on Defense; especially AFTER the INT.  Another gem from South Pinellas that unless you’re from there you wouldn’t know, however he will get plenty of exposure to the folks in Hillsborough with the addition of Gibbs to the largest crossover district in Tampa Bay.

11-19

11 Bennie Coney, Plant City, 2012, QB 6-3 210

| His 6’3” 210lb frame at the position along with his natural playmaking ability has recruiters salivating over the prospect of his services next year. Part of a trio of Raiders that have firmly entrenched themselves in the Top 20 amongst the Bay Area.

12 Travis Johnson, Jesuit, 2013, WR 6-4 200

| Another 2013 Prospect that is all but guaranteed to be near the top of this list come next year. For now, this 6’4” 215lb silky-smooth receiver will undoubtedly make things happen for the Tigers this fall. Johnson has the ability to dominate opposing DB’s with his size.

13 Earl Moore, Hillsborough, 2012, DT 6-2 275

| The Terriers have some studs on both sides of the ball, and it starts up front with this wide-body. At 6’2” 275, he’s got limitless potential at the position.

14 Cody Waldrop, Armwood, 2012, OL 6-3 315

| Watching him at times this year was almost comical. Unless you were on the other side of Cody and then there was absolutely nothing funny about his play. Waldrop simply does not want to block you; he wants to do really bad things to your ego when you’re lined-up across from him.

15 Gray Crow, Countryside, 2012, QB 6-4 220

| Amazing how many different opinions you can find about him at any given event. One thing remains the same with crow; his size will always keep him in the conversation at 6’4” 220lbs and has something that Al Golden wants hence his verbal commitment to the University of Miami already.

16 Louis Pappas, Tarpon Springs, 2012, QB 6-0 190

| Pappas is shooting up the ranks amongst the QB Elite in the Area with some impressive showings around the combine and 7v7 circuit. He can be deadly accurate and has deceptively strong arm strength on the deep routes. His 6’0” stature may be the only negative at this point.

17 Dazmond Patterson, Plant City, 2012, RB 5-8 165

| Patterson led the Raiders with over 1,200 yards and 13 TD’s in 2010. Although he’s only 5’8” he has unbelievable explosiveness and can break you off at any moment.

18 Derrick Doss, Largo, 2013, QB 5-9 195

| Another smallish RB checking in at 5’9”, but at 185lbs can be a bit of a wrecking-ball and will look to lead the Packers alongside a healthy Juwan Brown.

19 Lamarlin Wiggins, Plant City, 2012, WR 6-2 185

| The 6’2” 185lb Wide Receiver looks to be the beneficiary of passes from our #11 player Mr. Coney along with the added weapon of Patterson. Ask around and there’s quite a few folks that speak very highly of his talents at the position.

20-30

20 Ryan Green, St. Pete Catholic, 2013, RB 5-10 175

| Green rounds out our Top 20 coming off a sophomore season for the Barons in which he finished as Pinellas County’s 3rd Leading Rusher. Ended the season with 1,282 yards and 15 TD’s. Same build as Doss and Patterson with plenty of potential to shoot straight up this list in the coming years.

21 Chris Murray, King, 2012, WR/DB 5-9 175

| Will be Greg Windham’s main target presumably and at 5’9” 175 lbs isn’t the biggest pass catcher in the world. That doesn’t matter though. Watch this kid on film and what he does in the games and you won’t even ask twice about his size.

22 Alvin Bailey, Armwood, 2013, WR 5-11 160

| Stood out all season-long for the Hawks catching passes from Josh Grady. At 5’11” and only a rising junior, Bailey is on the fast track to stardom for the ‘Wood this season.

23 Brandon Holloway, Alonso, 2012, RB/WR 5-10 155

| Speed kills. A threat to put points on the board when the ball is in his hands for the Ravens, his 5’10” 155lb frame makes him as elusive as any on this list.

24 Kenny Blanch, Palm Harbor, 2012, RB 6-2 180

| If you haven’t seen this young man play, you’re missing something. Put two different players into the hospital this past season delivering hits to DB’s. Blanch is an absolute blur in the open-field under the Hurricanes air-it-out system this past fall. Only played in 7 games this year and still managed over 700 yards of rushing and 8TD’s for the ‘Canes.

25 Austin Aikens, Plant, 2012, WR 6-1 180

| Aikens will look to be the leader of (not just in the WR Corps, but the team) Plant’s “new look” minus some of the pomp and circumstance usually surrounded with the Panthers. A no-frills but consistent performer with one goal in mind and that’s getting better every day. Aikens will be on the lists of many recruiters by the time they even line ‘em up in South Tampa this fall.

26 Richard Benjamin, Middleton, 2013, ATH 6-1 180

27 Jordan Sherit, Hillsborough, 2013, DE/OT 6-3 220
