AROUND THE STATE RECRUITING

Five from 5A: Bishop Moore-Wakulla Names to Know

The 5A title game this Friday afternoon in Orlando features way too many prospects to list in a timely fashion. We can give you five names (for starters) that should jump right off the TV if they play to their accustomed levels, though. Here are five names that should get you started–names that should get virtually anyone with a pulse and names that could have MAJOR impact on in-state classes when it’s all said and done.

WAKULLA (13-1)

Jr. RB Brandon Berry (6-1/220) – LSU, FSU, Alabama, UF 54 Carries for 485 Yds 4 TD’s. Berry’s a patient runner with great balance to pair with that tailor-made frame of his. He’s not even the starter–but check his film and maybe even watch him do some things on Friday afternoon–and you’ll see why those big dogs are after him. Berry loves to get physical between the tackles once he’s found his spot–sometimes finding a hole that we didn’t even know existed showing off his vision as well.

Sr. QB Feleipe Franks (6-5/220) – UF Commit–(Army All American) 115-for-201 for 2,347 yards 30TD’s 2INT’s, 22 Carries for 179Yd’s 4TD’s. Franks can do a little bit of everything for you. He can get under center, take the snap, and deliver an accurate throw with zip. When the pocket collapses, he’s not afraid to haul-tail and is a load in the open field at that size to bring down for smaller DB’s. When in shotgun, he can get the ball out of his hands quickly and deliver a touch pass or throw a nice deep ball. Expect Franks to show his talents off this Friday afternoon and make Gators fans happy.

Sr. WR Keith Gavin (6-4/215) – Alabama, FSU, GA, UF (Under Armour All-American) – 42rec-779yds 12TD’s + 317 All Purpose return Yards with 2TD’s. Gavin was a ‘Nole until recently. According to Head Coach Barry Klees FSU’s “not out of it by a long shot” despite his de-committment. Gavin’s a dynamic playmaker and exactly what a wide receiver should appear in terms of build. He’s the exact same weight and just an inch shorter than Wharton’s Auden Tate and when you watch his film you’ll see that he can make you miss in a phone booth–is a load to bring down with his size–and can control his body with ease when the ball is in the air.

BISHOP MOORE (13-1)

Sr. DE Zander Zimmer (6-4/220) – Wake Forest commit–88 tackles, 5 sacks. Watching Zimmer on film brings back memories of Anthony Chickillo (6-4/230 his senior season at Alonso) and Jordan Sheritt (6-4/240 at Hillsborough) in terms of the motor and the versatility. Zimmer’s a freak in terms of athleticism and can also flash his skills on the offensive side of the ball playing at the tight end position. Be prepared to hear his name called early-and-often this Friday afternoon.

So. RB Trilion Coles (5-10/182) – leading rusher with 800+ yards and 130 yards receiving as well. Son of FSU’s Laveranues Coles and on pace to have his old man’s size as well–(LC was 5-11/200 at FSU)–Trilion Coles brings a tear to the fans of the Garnet & Gold when you watch him find just a sliver of space and then emerge like he’s been strapped with a jetpack–just like his Dad used to do at Ribault and FSU. Coles is a part of a three-headed monster for the Hornets in the backfield and will become a household name in the recruiting circles before it’s all said and done in the next two seasons.
