The Vanguard Award Selects September’s Scholar Athlete Winner 

Tampa, Fl, — October, 12, 2011—The Vanguard Award is proud to announce September’s award recipient. Kieran Pettus, from East Bay High School, has proven to be a dedicated student, stellar athlete and is devoted to making a difference in the community. Vanguard Attorneys will present $1,000 for East Bay High School’s athletic program and a plaque at the school’s pep rally tonight, Thursday, October 13 at 7p.m. 

Playing football, basketball and track, he is a strong, well rounded athlete. In fact, he has been chosen as defensive player of the week several times this football season. However, sports aren’t the only thing in which Pettus has excelled.  He maintains a 4.6 GPA and participates in Relay for Life, GAP Camp for SGA, and community service through SGA. 

Each month, the Vanguard Award selection committee will award a new Hillsborough County high school athlete. The winning student’s school’s athletic program will receive $1,000. These programs are crucial to the community’s growth and the success of Hillsborough County students.
