E7 Summer Spotlight: 2017 LB’s

Eight spots remain up for grabs at the linebacker position group. We focused yesterday on the members from the Class of 2016 that could make a run at those spots. We can’t forget about the Class of 2017 however. There could be some guys in this class that surprise us even if they don’t earn a spot. The best part about Sunday is we know that when these guys leave the complex, they will still have two full seasons to show us what they’ve got no matter what. Here now are a few guys we think you should keep an eye out for.

Jason Winston – Wiregrass Ranch (6′-2″/205)
Winston showed some flashes in the spring game versus Pasco. His motor runs constantly and his change of direction is pretty solid. Good frame to work with as well.
Josh Levy – Winter Haven (6′-0″/185)
Levy played on the JV for the Blue Devils last season but looks to play a much bigger role this season. The Blue Devils Junior Varsity squad went 8-0 last season with six shutouts and 12 total points surrendered.
Angelo Owens – Tampa Bay Tech (5′-7″/194)
Don’t let the size fool you. Hillsborough’s Armand Chalk and Largo’s John Clark are virtually the same size and they both have invites. Granted they’re both at the RB position, HOWEVER Chalk is also planning on being apart of the LB group and Owens flashes the same potential as the both of those guys of similar build.
Ellrie Allen – Wesley Chapel (5′-10″/200)
Extremely productive sophomore season for this young man. Allen racked up 73 tackles, with eight of those for losses along with two sacks and a fumble recovery to his credit.
