Tampa FL – We are going to pick this game up late in the 4th quarter with St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay Tech tied at 28 all. After a crucial personal foul committed by TBT, St. Petersburg started the possession in great scoring position at the Titan 21 yard line. As he had done much of the night STP QB Austyn Causey scrambled around for a big first down and on the next play, Jaylnn Williams ran in for a one yard TD. One of his three on the night. This score put St. Pete up 35-28 with under 5 mins remaining in the game.
After the ensuing kickoff Tampa Bay Tech started their drive at the minus 46. Not much success on the first two downs. On 3rd and 20, TBT QB Michael Penix completed a jump ball to WR Daquon Green for a drive saving reception. The Titans would eventually scored on the drive to tie the game at 45 with 2:33 left in the game. Neither team would score and the game would head to overtime.
STP won the coin toss and elected to play defense first. Tampa Bay Tech didn’t take long to score when Penix hit Anthony Payne for a TD pass. The Green Devils answered with a Jaylnn Williams toss pass to for a TD. Both teams converted their extra points. St. Pete started the second overtime with the ball but failed to put the ball in the end zone. The Green Devils were forced to settle for a field gaol. Now TBT had a chance to match the score by St. Pete. On 3rd down, Penix handed the ball to Trent Wyatt who originally attempted to dive over the top of the defense and was stuffed at the top but kept pushing forward when his feet touched the ground and with a second effort bullied his way into the end zone to win the game for the Titans.
