Distinguished Alumni for September 29th, 2015

It’s another week and another chance to highlight some of the young men that have gone on to the next level. There’s a couple of familiar names–and a couple of names you probably haven’t seen in awhile.

AND THE NOMINEES AREā€¦

Karel Hamilton – Samford (Strawberry Crest)
5 receptions for 51 yards in the Bulldgos’ 45-3 loss to Louisville. Hamilton has 25 receptions for 276 yards and a touchdown this season in addition to 117 yards on kickoff returns and 2TD’s. Hamilton has amassed 1,810 receiving yards in his three seasons in Birmingham for the ‘Dogs.

Tyler Higbee – Western Kentucky (East Lake)
The senior had 4 receptions for 55 yards and 2TD’s in a 56-14 Hilltoppers win vs. Miami(OH) on Saturday. Higbee has already surpassed his yardage from last season with 354 yards on 26 receptions–and has tied his total number of TD’s already with four.

Todd Macon – Liberty (Admiral Farragut)
The sophomore from St. Pete has 10 carries for 30 yards and a TD in the Flames’ 34-13 loss to Southern Illinois. Macon has rushed 22 times for 72 yards and has scored a touchdown this season.

Alex McGough – Florida International (Gaither)
The freshman from Gaither continues to shine in his first season for the Panthers completing 29-of-44 of his passes for 263 yards and 2TD’s in a 27-17 loss to Louisiana Tech. McGough has completed 100-of-155 for 9TD’s and 2 INT’s on the season and has rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries.

Frankie Williams – Purdue (Robinson)
Posted four tackles, an interception and a pass breakup in the Boilers 35-28 loss to Bowling Green. Williams has 21 tackles, .5 sack, two pass deflections and a forced fumble thus far on the season.

AND THE WINNER IS???

Tyler Higbee – Tyler had himself quite a week and his season thus far has been fantastic. He was even added to the Fred Biletnikoff Award Watch List by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club this week in acknowledgment of his fast start. The senior is literally having a career season and he’s a big reason for the Hilltoppers success.
