Football is a tough man’s sport. created for people who can take and give punishment. It has evolved to a finesse sport, highlighting speed and agility, before guts and grind.

Gut and grind players still do exist. Those players who play every position on the field no matter the requirements for the position. Largo 2013 ATH, Derrick Doss is a guts and grind player. He is regarded to some as the best ALL ROUND football player in Pinellas County. Not because of the number of touchdowns he runs or number of passes he throws. But, the way he plays the game and everything that he does for his team.

Doss plays multiple positions; Running Back, Full Back, Line Backer and Return Specialist. He does so much and does it well. Better than anyone else who may try and duplicate him. Doss is vicious as a line backer, mangling ball carries. He is a bruising running back with the ability to run past defenders just a well as he runs over them. As a return specialist, if the ball is kicked in his direction, next time you see him, he may be in the endzone.

Derrick Doss is a throwback football player. So valuable to his team because he provides so much. The Packers are a playoff team each year. Each year they are stacked with talent.
