Top Performers

JUSTIN GRAY, BERKELEY PREP 2014 F
Most dominant player of the 8 teams observed. Forced the issue each team he had the ball. The gym was well aware who the best player on the floor was. Gray started strong scoring 9 of Berkeley’s first quarter points. One series of plays was so impressive. Look at the video below. Gray comes from the other side of the paint to block a lay up. If that’s not enough, the very next play, he sends another lay up attempt back the 3-point line, runs the floor and finishes with a huge 2-handed dunk. Gray ended with 7 point in the 4th quarter and a game high 18 points.

CRAIG BOWMAN, BERKELEY PREP 2014 G
Bowman didn’t blanket the stat sheet. But what he did was control the floor. When Deerfield Beech started making a run and applying some heavy pressure, Bowman kept the Berkeley Bucs composed and under control. He also showed some feistiness. The game got a little testy late and Bowman didn’t back down from the challenged. Finished the game with 8 points.

KESHAWN EVANS, AMERICAN HERITAGE 2015 PG
Talk about “Green Light,” Evans had it! There was not a shot he didn’t like or a shot the coaches didn’t want him to take. Very confident scorer; Kinda Kobe Bryant (LA Lakers) like. He was going to heat up. It was just a matter of when. Evans scored 22 of Heritage’s 53 points. 12 of those points were from behind he 3-point line. Exciting ball handler, quick and elusive. Quick release and fierce competitor.

JASON MASSEY, AMERICAN HERITAGE 2014 G
A strong first half vs. Orlando Evans. Scored 10 of his 14 points in the first two periods. Very athletic and great defender. Showed a variety of moves, scoring from the inside and outside. Even showing a few low post moves.

VANCE HOUSTON, DEERFIELD BEACH 2014 G
The name probably doesn’t ring a bell, but his nickname should be “Big Shot Vance.” Each time Berkley started to make a run, Vance would hit a shot to slow their pace. Only Deerfield Buck to score in double figures. Scored 14 points, and did so in convincing fashion. Scored off the dribble, pick and roll, set shots and a few fast break points. Solid game.

JACOBI BOYKINS, LAKEWOOD 2014 G
Such a good athlete. Quick, great lateral movement, explosive and aggressive. Has a rugged, yet smooth game. Can produce in the paint and take defenders off the dribble. Lakewood struggled and so did Boykins early. Scored 5 points in each, the first and last periods of the contest. Ended the game with 14 points.

CRAIG OWENS, LOUISVILLE TRINITY (LOUISVILLE, KY) 2014 F
Complete player. Not the quickest or the tallest. Not the best athlete or sexiest frame. However, produced in a big way. A bully of sorts. Pounded the glass, scrapped up plenty of garbage points from hustle and effort. Nice intermediate jump shot and can put the ball on the floor. Finished with 18 points and 8 for 8 from the free throw line.

RAYMOND SPALDING, LOUISVILLE TRINITY (LOUISVILLE, KY) 2015 C
Did some things that showed how good of a prospect he COULD be. At 6-10, he handles the ball fairly well. Ran the court extremely well and played above the rim most of the game. He will need to improve his low post game. But had a nice showing.

JACK MORRISSEY, LOYOLA ACADEMY (WILMETTE, IL) 2014 SG
Seven 3-pointers made. 9 points in the first half and 16 points in the second half. It seemed like the kid was at practice. Everything he put up, seemed to go in. Smooth release, sweet set-up and sound mechanics.

KESHAWN JOHNSON, SPRUCE CREEK 2016 G
Hit six 3-pointers, all in the second half. Four in the 3rd quarter and 2 in the last period. Spruce Creek scored just 9 points in the first half and 47 in the second half. 18 points by Johnson who sparked the Spruce Creek rejuvenation.
