One of the area’s premier football programs has a new coach.
Dale Salapa has stepped down at Dr. Phillips and will be replaced by Rodney Wells, the Panthers’ defensive coordinator.
DP Principal Eugene Trochinski confirmed the coaching change Tuesday.
Salapa said through a text message that he was “going to work on his graduate degree” and that he was “tired from past year.”
DP finished 14-1 last season and reached the 6A state championship game, but the Panthers forfeited those victories after they self-reported having an ineligible player on their roster.
