PINELLAS COUNTY THE BOX

Clark’s Week 2 Game Reaction

1. Small School shootout Canterbury 44 Cambridge 43
• Too bad this game was probably written off by most when in fact it was likely the best game in the Bay Area this weekend. A total of 87 points scored and over 700 yards of offense including overtime this game had to be EPIC. Up next for the Canterbury after this grueling game is Admiral Farragut highly considered to be Pinellas County’s best bet for a state title contender. I advise no one to write this game off.

2. No Fowler No Problem
• Lakewood shutout the upset minded Yellow Jackets 28-0 and amounted 7 sacks and all of this without their 5 star defensive end Dante Fowler. The big question is when will he be back on the field as reports have been out that this suspension is for more than one game. Either way Lakewood appears to be fine with Sophomore QB Tracy Johnson amounting 408 yards and 6 passing touchdowns as well as Rodney Adams having 211 yards and 3 TD’s in 2 games.  The defense may need to catch up to the offense.

3. East Lake are they contenders or Pretenders #7on7
• East Lake came into this season very highly touted and thought of as a team that could go far in the playoffs. 2 lackluster performances later they are 1-1 and now people are wondering why they were considered as one of the top teams in 8A to begin with. Enter 7 on 7. East Lake had a very productive off season and 7 on 7 events but once the real football started it was made glaringly obvious that their defense needs work as they have been pushed around by CCC and Countryside. This week they have rival Tarpon Springs who also has a very good offense. My prediction for this week’s game is an EPIC Shootout.

4. Tarpon Top Guns!
• Tarpon’s oTarpon @ Countryside ffense has really been clicking. Whether that is a product of the level of competition they have played or not, we will find out this week when they face off against East Lake. Currently Louis Pappas has 482 passing yards and 7TD’s; RB Kenny Blanch has 179 rushing yards and 2 TD’s and WR Kenyatta Merriex has 9 receptions for 229 yards and 2 TD’s. The challenge gets stiff this week as they face off against neighborhood rival East Lake.

5. The undefeated. These are the teams who currently reside at 2-0. The ones in bold are not used to being among the ranks in recent times.
