HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Jayce Hampton hasn’t had any headaches lately. For the rising senior football player at James Clemens, it’s a sign that recently added head protection is working.
Hampton is one of more than 30 Jets players who are going through spring practice using Guardian Caps, a one-size-fits-all, soft-shelled helmet cover. Guardians have 39 pockets designed to dissipate the energy of a hit, and are made of a closed-cell foam material that doesn’t absorb water.
