Zephyrhills vs. Pasco
Formerly the “Nine Mile War” Now called the “Nine Mile Rivalry”.
Pasco leads 38-17 in the All-Time Series and 19-13 since they began playing for the East Pasco Trophy in 1981.

The BCP Game of the Week heads to Zephyrhills High School for the massive district showdown between the Pirates and the Bulldogs. Here is the simple fact: 5A-6: Pasco 5-3 (3-2) at Zephyrhills 7-1 (4-1), Winner is Runnerup. South Sumter is Champion already.  This is really as simple as it gets; Winner advances to the playoffs, loser will not!

Pasco has rattled off 3 straight wins after losing 3 of the first 5 games this season.  Zephyrhills is on their way to one of the best seasons in school history.  Here are a few notes before the big game tomorrow night.

  • Pasco has won the last 5 meetings (2008-2012) in this game.
  • Since 2000, Pasco has a slight lead in the series. Has won 8 of 13 games since 2000.
  • Pasco is posting just over 20 ppg in the first half, while Zephyrhills is posting 18 ppg in the first half.  However, the Dogs have a strong 4th quarter scoring 9 points in that period. Pasco 29 ppg Zephyrhills 36.3 ppg.
  • Zephyrhills has out rushed and out passed Pasco this year.  Dogs are averaging 228 yards per game on the ground and 117 yards through the air, totaling 304 offensive yards (average) each game.
  • Pasco is not far behind in offensive production in 2013.  The Pirates are averaging 34 less rushing yards than the Dogs (194), 28 less passing yards (28) and 21 total offensive yards (21).
  • Defensively, LB Brandon Debyah leads the Pirates in tackles with 65 total on the season. Andrew Ivie has played well on the defensive line and has 46 total tackles of his own. Jacob Morphew is the only Pirate with 2 or more sacks. He has 7.5 to date.
  • Jaylen Pickett has been playing on another level this year. He leads the team in rushing, 661 yards, 89 carries, 83 yards per game and 11 big rushing touchdowns.
  • Malik Johns is the player Zephyrhills has to contain. The Pirate senior has 1444 all purpose yards and has played at least 6 different positions this season. 817 rushing yards, 262 receiving yards, 201 kick return yards, 155 punt return yards and 181 all purpose yards per game.
  • For Zhills, Devin Brockington does it all and more: 195 rushing yards, 405 receiving yards, 227 kick off return yards and 69 punt return yards.  921 all purpose yards this season and 115 all purpose yards per game.
