Bullet Points From ESS Combine

Bullet Points from the ESS Combine

Tampa, FL

  • The studs did their thing as expected.  Lakewood’s, Dante Fowler and Jefferson’s, Tyriq McCord…Wowed the crowd with speed and great hands during 1 on 1s.
  • Keith Weeks, Newsome, OL – Another solid performance.  Started slow in 1 on1 vs. McCord and Fowler, but ended the session much better than he started.
  • Eric Striker, Armwood, OLB – I was extremely surprised with the footwork of striker.  He has good hips and had a few good plays during 1 on 1s.  Very aggressive in coverage.
  • Hargreaves and Agholor battle during 1 on 1s

    Vernon Hargreaves, Wharton, CB

    – Once again, the name surfaces.  Very instinctive player, excellent make up speed and ball skills.

  • Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep, ATH – Untouchable during 1 on 1s.  Everyone wanted a piece of him and 8 of 10 times he gave them what they ordered.  Great day for Agholor.
  • Royce Easley, Newsome, ATH – Another solid day for the BCP surprise player of the month.  A few weeks ago, he impressed at the BCP Ignite Combine.  Yesterday, he had another solid performance.
  • Taylor Gonzalez, King, WR – What can you say about this young man, except he is coming on and his name his getting known.  Great pull away speed and made a few excellent plays during 1 on 1s.
  • Matt Breida, Nature Coast, RB – This kid showed me something during individuals drill work.  Good balance and blazing speed.  Excited to see what this young man does this season.
  • Ja’Juan Pollock, Manatee, WR – With the star power, it was easy to overlook this young man.  But I watched him all day.  Crisp route runner and great hands. He is a 2013 kid and has a chance to make some noise.
  • Antwon Armstong, Plant City, DB – Had the strongest 1 on 1 performance to me.  Came down with a few spectacular interceptions and only got beat  1 or 2 times.  He is a big time player!
  • Ryan Green during RB Drill work

Chris Murray, King, WR and LaMarlin Wiggins, Plant City, WR

did what they do best.  Both were outstanding.  Chris is a great route runner and LaMarlin is tall and rangy.  Top 2 WR at the combine yesterday in my opinion.

  • Matt Jones, Armwood, RB and Dazmond Patterson, Plant City, RB were impressive.  Matt looks like a 1st round pick now and Patterson was too shifty and quick for any LB.
  • Isaac Tanner, Freedom, LB – Again, I come away excited to see what this kid does in pads this upcoming season. He ran well and was pretty good in coverage vs. the shifty RBs.
  • Ryan Green, St. Pete Catholic, RB and Wade Edwards, Armwood, RB were great today.  Edwards is too fast for any LB to attempt to cover and Green is very physical.  Both impressed today.
