Braves Returners Will Create Success For Lake Gibson

2019 BY THE NUMBERS

209 – Rushing yards per game in 2019. Led by junior running back Jaylon Glover who finished the season with 1,592 yards on the ground and 14 rushing TDs. Collectively the Braves scored 22 rushing touchdowns and averaged 6.5 yards per carry amongst 15 ball carriers.

162 – Passing yards per game in 2019. Junior quarterback Logan Hackett has a chance to have a special season. After a sophomore campaign throwing for 1,697 yards, 25 TDs, and 10 INTs, Hackett is ready to eclipse those numbers in a big way.

370 – Total offensive yards per game in 2019. Minus Glover, six Braves recorded over 200 yards of offense. Sam McCall, 599 receiving yards, and Julian Cervantes 481 combined rush and receiving yards.

56 – Total touchdowns in 2019. 13 different players reached the promised land last season. Opportunity was created and several players took advantage.

106 – Tackles for loss in 2019. Graduate Morven Joseph and senior JJ McKinley both recorded over 21 TFLs in 2019.

28 – Turnovers in 2019. 14 caused fumbles leading to 16 fumble recoveries and 12 interceptions. 4 Braves recorded multiple interceptions. Stingy ball sharks on the back end.

Head football coach Robert Paxia is super excited for the 2020 season and for good reason. He has a bunch of returning impact players and some new Braves on the block expected to fit in nicely to what his team is doing on and off the field.

Newcomer Cormani McClain, 2023 WR…Explosive, young WR who has big play ability.  Landon Brown is a 2022 safety…Physical Presence good athlete who moves well in space. Chris Moore is also a new addition. The 2022 WR is 1/3 of a revamped WR unit after graduating 3 seniors at the position. An explosive slot, who brings opportunities for big plays. 

Back for another crack at it Logan Hackett. 2022 QB…Returning starter at QB who has spent the entire offseason improving his craft. Jaremey McQueen, 2022 OL/DL…2-way starter returns for his junior year. Has improved his strength and conditioning by wrestling last offseason. Explosive off the ball on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Samuel McCall, 2022 ATH…2-way starter who can be relied on to make tough and big plays when it matters.
