After noticing all the space Lake Gibson has to practice, you notice the number of big linemen the Braves have. Some new to high school football. Some seasoned veterans.  But, the sheer number was surprising.

The success of the Braves will be in the hands of three year starting QB, Trey Congdon.  He is the oil in the engine and captain behind the wheel.  Very well respected by his teammates and coaches, Congdon is a leader and a voice the team listens to.  Trey has a pretty release and nice snap to his passes. He showed a pretty deep ball and strong arm when throwing the intermediate routes.  He took a lot of pride in working on his footwork and ball fakes during individual periods.

Protecting the precious QB were some big jokers. The offensive line was massive compared to some I have seen.  The anchor is rising senior and under the radar prospect, Fedrice Binot.  At 6-4/265 lbs, Binot moves like a line backer and plays with a good pad level.  Just inside of him is rising sophomore Bavion Johnson (6-4/280 lbs).  Still learning the game but has such a high ceiling.

DID NOT KNOW…
…I would love LB/DE Reuben Jones so much in pads. On film he looks great. In person he looks even better. Really quick off the ball and has great reaction time.

…freshman defensive tackles grew on the Lake Gibson football tree at 6-3/240 lbs. Keshon Camps is just a baby and very raw. But he has what you can not coach; size and athleticism. He will be a big name is years to come.

…The coaching staff would be so active. This was my first trip out to Lake Gibson and I loved how active the coaches were. From the top (Head Coach Keith Demyer) down, all the coaches were very attentive to their positions and not over coaching another coach. There was almost a coaching moment on each snap during inside run period and the staff used those moments to teach/coach their players. It was evident why the staff and team has been so successful in past years.
