Blake’s Omarion Coleman is Stinging The Competition

Tampa, March 27, 2018– Omarion Coleman is a special talent at running back for Blake high school, with a stat-line that speaks for itself. He’s already made a name for himself, and the best part is, he’s still got two more years of high school football left to write; a 2020 graduate. An early productive bloomer that has much promise in the backfield, capable of being a valuable recruiting asset with his dynamic north-south rushing style and ability to catch the rock.

Omarion has the stature to add to his extensive list, standing at 5’10” and weighing in at 175 there’s room to bulk up a little bit, but that’s what his junior and senior year is for! He’s just getting started paving his way through the 1,000-yard mark, rushing for 1,089 yards in his freshmen year! At that point in time, the Blake yellow jackets had an overall record of 5-4, and Coleman was listed a just 5’7” 150-pound back hungry for touches.

Touches indeed he got, with 157 carries, averaging 6.9 rushing yards, 121 per game, racking up 10 total touchdowns; 7 of those rushing. Omarion had four 100+ yard games out of 9 played, and his best performance came against Leto High in a 27-0 win in which he rushed for 201 yards on 16 carries, putting up 2 TD’s, averaging 12.6 yards per carry and a long-run of 42-his longest recorded is 75 yards!

In the receiving category, he tallied 17 receptions for 165 yards, averaging 9.7 yards per catch, with a long-catch of 61, and 3 total touchdowns. His best game on this end, came in a loss to Chamberlain, with 3 receptions for 70 yards, averaging 23.3 yards per catch, accumulating 1254 all-purpose yards. With 11 player of the game awards to his name, 9 of those in his freshmen year alone.

No sophomore statistics are posted. But I reached out to an assistant coach as Blake High School and he stated Coleman rushed for just under 900 yards in the 2017 season.

I’d say Omarion Coleman has a strong foundation, ready to take on any challenge that presents itself in his remaining 2019 and 2020 seasons.
