Blake High (Tampa) hires new head football coach

BCP sources report that Michael Burns has been hired as the new head football coach at Blake High school.  We have not been in contact with the school administration, but we do know that Burns has a Jacksonville (Duval County) coaching background. 

We have been informed that Tampa Cathlic legend Kenny Kelly will be named the offensive coordinator. Kelly was a 1996 Guy Toph winner out of Tampa Cathoilic. Parade All-American, Gatorade Player of the Year,  Guy Toph & Golden Helmet Winner. 2x 1st team All-State HM All-State as a Soph. 3x All-County 1st team 2x All-Suncoast 1st team. Hm All-Suncoast as a Soph. Threw for 7,262 yards and 77 TDs in his TC career. Led Crusaders to 3 playoff trips. Also All-State in Basketball. Helped lead his basketball squad to the state title as a Soph. Was a Standout in Baseball and was drafted and played pro Baseball. He also was a standout in Track in the Long jump,triple jump & 4×100 relay. Earned a scholarship to play QB at the University of Miami.

After 3 seasons at Blake, Harry Hubbard was fired as the Blake Yellow Jacket head football coach.  Hubbard was 9-21 overall while in charge of the football program with a 4-6 record in both 2010 and 2011.
