Bishop Moore 28, Jesuit 14

Bishop Moore (13-1) pulled away from Jesuit (13-1) in the second half to defeat the Tigers 28-14 Friday in this Class 5A State Semifinal. Bishop Moore beat Jesuit last year in the Class 5A Regional Final.

On the game’s opening drive, Jesuit hit first with a 68-yard scoring run by junior running back Malik Davis. After the teams traded punts, Hornets’ senior quarterback Collin Hartmann scored on a 9-yard touchdown run. In the second quarter, The Tigers missed a 46-yard field goal attempt and had an interception by senior defensive back Ben DeLuca in the Hornets’ territory. The score at the half was 7-7.

On the opening drive of the second half, Bishop Moore drove 68 yards with sophomore running back Trilion Coles scoring from the 1-yard out. Jesuit then drove 69 yards to the Hornets’ 11-yard line before senior defensive back Rayshad Lewis picked off a Tigers pass in the end zone. Bishop Moore then went on a 80-yard scoring drive with senior running back Trey Page punching it in from the 2-yard line. Jesuit would answer with a 66-yard drive ending with a heck of a good 15-yard touchdown catch by senior running back Nick Perillo in tight coverage to pull the Tigers within 7 points, 21-14. Hornets’ Trilion Coles scored a late 7-yard touchdown after Jesuit turned the ball over on downs.

Bishop Moore’s Collin Hartmann went 6-of-8 for 86 yards and had 12 carries for 50 yards and one touchdown, Trilion Coles rushed 16 times for 50 yards and two touchdowns.

Jesuit’s Malik Davis had 26 carries for 187 yards and one touchdown, Danny Boon hit on 12 of 21 passes for 119 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Tigers’ senior linebackers Parker Looney and Zack Quilty both had two tackle-for-losses.

Bishop Moore will play Wakulla in Orlando next week for the Class 5A State Title.
