Billy Pavlock, A Career defined

Billy Pavlock, PHUH

Quarterback Billy Pavlock will undoubtedly go down as the best player to player for the Palm Harbor Hurricanes in the schools short 15 year history.  He has fought through position battles, injuries, different coaching staffs and persevered through it all to put himself on a pedestal among the upper echelon on QB’s who have come through Pinellas County.  Below is a look at his 3 year career.

Pavlock did not enter the season as a starter his 1st year.  He had to battle Sr Ja’Tyuan Landing for the starting job.  Landing ended up winning the position battle but went down with an ankle injury week 1.  Pavlock took over the reigns from that point on and never gave them back.  While as you can see by his stats his 1st season was a learning experience but his defining moment was week 9 against rival Dunedin a team in which PHUH has never defeated.  Pavlock led the team on a long drive in the 1st quarter and capped it off with a tackle breaking 20 yard run that would lead the way for PHUH to defeat dunedin 10-9.

As a JR Pavlock was able to cut down on interceptions but still went through some growing pains.  Even so he was able to amass 1322 total yards and 12TDS in only 7 games of action.  That’s right 7 games of action.  He suffered a broken hand against Countryside and did not play the rest of the season.  This season started off promising as they started out 3-0 and Pavlock had amassed over 450 rushing yards and 250 passing yards.  So even in limited action he was able to show improvement from the previous season.

Billy achieved a breakout SR season and led his team to the 2nd round of the playoffs in the process.  In the playoffs he even returned a punt for a TD to help lead the Canes to their 1st playoff victory in school history.  Pavlock played his 1st full season and showed mass improvements from his previous 2 season.  Completion percentage and turnover ratio were the biggest improvements but he also improved his yardage and touchdowns while playing defense and some special teams.  He did it all for PHUH this year and they could not have achieved the same the success without him.  As a matter of fact they may have only a been a 2 or 3 win team this year minus Billy Pavlock.

In conclusion, Billy Pavlock may not be the biggest or have the strongest arm but he meant as much to his team as any player in the bay area for the last 3 years and he clearly had a stellar career.  I look for him to have much success at the next level wherever he decides to take his talents.
