HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY PINELLAS COUNTY RECRUITING RECRUITING FEATURES THE BOX

Big Prospects with choices to make: Predictions

Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep, ATH

For many, the cat’s out of the bag. For others, the circus is less than 24 hours away as National Signing Day begins at Midnight. There are some big fishes in the sea left to bite the hook however in Hillsborough and Pinellas, and below are some of the predictions for them. See if you can figure out their potential destinations with us

Nelson Agholor, Berkeley Prep, RB
This has been the best keep secret since Watergate. Agholor has handled his recruitment and media request like a seasoned vet. He has handled it so well; I question whether this whole deal has been fun for him. He never gives too much or too little. His responses to questions are always team related. He’d rather shy away from attention and spread the love to those who helped him reach the level of success he is at now. Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma are all great, historic, successful programs. But, I think they will all come in second to USC. Agholor has always spoken highly of the Trojans and it sucks being a Notre Dame grad. But, “It is what it is”! This is probably one of the few great players we may remember for his maturity, professionalism and mannerism before his athleticism.

Prediction: Southern California

Schyler Miles, Berkeley Prep, ILB
It seems like Miles came out of nowhere, which is not the case. Yet, I do feel that he has benefited greatly from being a teammate of Nelson, attracting many college recruiters to Berkeley Prep’s campus. Miles reportedly has made his decision. West Va., Florida and I guess you can toss Kansas in the mix, are the top 3. At this point, I think Miles is a true inside odd front linebacker. He fits the mold of a Midwest player, good speed, brawny and tough. The SEC sounds great for any player, but I think his best fit is in a league that doesn’t see players of his caliber in their back yard every year.

Prediction: West Virginia

Gary Simon, Gibbs, CB
Simon is the second biggest catch on this list. Not often are 6-2ft corners available with Simon’s ability. He was a first team 2011 ALL BCP Team selection and owned the field. His recruitment has been semi hush, pulling in many BCS offers, but none from Florida. At this time I think Gary will decide between Mississippi, Missouri and Oklahoma. Simon is not one to relish in the media attention and would rather go about his business. But, he does have a true passion for the game and has always expressed to me that he want to play on a high level on the big stage.

Prediction: Oklahoma

James Few, Plant, QB

James Few, Plant, QB
Few fought off 3 other Plant QBs for the starting job, earned the trust of his position coach and teammates and ultimately led his 2011 Panthers to a State football championship. What else is missing from the dream filled with hard work and dedication? Few will sign a letter of intent somewhere tomorrow. More than likely, it will be with one of the Ivy League schools. Few has visited the majority of them and if he goes the Anthony Chickillo route, he will follow in his father’s footsteps and “take his talents to Princeton”. This one could be up in the air though.

Prediction: Princeton (I reserve the right to change this prediction, haha)

Dante Fowler, Lakewood, DE
What will Dante do? Who the heck knows? I believe that’s how he likes it. Fowler has been a FSU commit since his junior season. He is a lifelong Nole and all signs point to him signing with Jimbo [Fisher] and the boys on Wednesday. But, there have been plenty of rumors about how strong Fowler’s commitment was/is. Well…I think Dante has a trick up his sleeve.

Prediction: Florida

Iman Smith, Pinellas Park, OLB/WR

Iman Smith, Pinellas Park, OLB
Pinellas Park football took a big step forward in 2011. Much of the credit to the coaching staff, but don’t omit what the players accomplished. Iman Smith played as much of a role for the Patriots as any of his teammates. Though he did not receive a crazy amount of attention, his play was Big Time! Smith has nearly 15 offers but says he will choose between Middle Tennessee, FIU and FAU. It’s hard to pull a kid away from the state of Florida and with how the FIU Panthers are emerging; this could be a solid home for Smith

Prediction: Florida International
