At 6’5 and over 200lbs Zach Benjamin is an intimidating presence to any defensive back and he has put his tremendous size to great use this season by tallying 2 touchdown receptions for Tampa Catholic.

Colleges have taken notice and Zach has numerous Division 1 offers; yet, he has narrowed his list down to a top three of Western Kentucky, USF and Toledo. Currently, Zach has no leader amongst the three and wants to see what each school has to offer; however, after Tampa Catholic’s game Friday night he will get to see one of his top three up close and personal.

Zach watched the closing moments of Western Kentucky’s huge upset against in-state rival Kentucky last weekend from his Tampa home and he was very excited about the outcome. This weekend he will get to watch the Hilltoppers live as he takes an unofficial visit. Zach visited Western Kentucky’s campus this summer but was unable to see the game day atmosphere or preparations. Those are just two aspects that Zach will be looking into during all of his visits. He is also very concerned about the school’s academic supports and the campus life. Zach is a true student athlete possessing a 3.2 GPA and over a 1400 on the SAT and will not make an impulsive commitment unless he is certain he will honor it.

Zach is out to prove all the doubters wrong in his final year at Tampa Catholic. He says the team was devastated to not make the playoffs last year, which ended the Crusaders 14 year postseason run. Zach says that the team is doing better than ever and improving every practice.
