Balanced scoring gets Wharton past SPC

Wharton vs St. Petersburg Catholic

Wildcats stay perfect defeating St. Petersburg Catholic in round one of the Northeast Christmas Invitational. Wharton used a run and gun offensive style to outlast the Barons 53-50.

Ryan Green led all scorers with 21 points. After his season ending injury which sidelined him for the entire 2012 football season, Green has made a monster comeback and looked really good vs Wharton. He had a complete game stroking the ball from behind the 3pt line and inside the paint. CJ McGill dished out a bunch of assist and 10 points of his own while Sir Patrick Reynolds led Wharton in scoring with 14.

SPC had the lead at the end of the first quarter 13-15 and Wharton took control of the game from there and did not look back. Chase Litton contributed in a big way with a strong 3rd quarter performance putting up 6 points and a handful of assist.

Wharton started to pull away from SPC in the second quarter while the Barons struggled to put the ball in the hole and Ryan Green was scoreless.  Play will resume tomorrow at Northeast High a Wharton will advance in the winners bracket and SPC will drop into the losers bracket.
