After winning the 6A State Championship Kyron Miles and the Armwood Hawks are anything but complacent.

“It’s hard work, hard work every day,” Miles says. “Practices are on point – Everything is down pat. If you do something wrong then you gotta start all over. We try to do everything perfect.”

A 2012 Ignite Showcase participant Miles holds a verbal offer from Louisville and has drawn interest from South Florida and Auburn among others. Miles says that combines are a great source of competition and he feels Ignite is an effective say to get noticed by college coaches.

“It’s very beneficial to the athlete. It helps colleges see what kids had good times and good body movement and stuff like that,” he says. “I felt very confident that I did well. It was fun so that’s the main thing, I had fun.”

Miles holds an offer from Louisville that he says he received shortly after the Hawks championship game, but he and the rest of the coaching staff kept the offer quite, not making it public until yesterday in an interview with Big County Preps.

“It was great,” Miles said of receiving the offer from the Cardinals. “The feeling of your first offer is just astounding. You’re estatic. All you can say is ‘thank you, thank you, thank you, appreciate it.’ It’s just crazy. It makes you want to strive for even more.”

Miles is a big-bodied tight end measuring just shy of 6-feet 3-inches and nearly 240 pounds. Although Armwood didn’t throw the ball a ton during the title run, he was able to contribute in a major way.

“We may not throw the ball a lot, but it’s always good to block downfield. It feels good to block for your running back and block for your quarterback down field. It’s always a good feeling,” he says. “It’s a great feeling just thinking about playing college ball as a tight end.”

The rising senior says his goals for the 2012 season are simple.

“I’m going to get bigger, faster and stronger.”
