At the Alonso jamboree, the first half was won by Gaither 7-0 over Sickles. The only score came on the Cowboys’ 82 yards opening drive with big plays from rising senior running back TJ Williams (32-yard run, 16-yard run, and a 28-yard touchdown catch from a pass by rising junior quarterback Gavin Denboer). Williams finished the half with 108 All-purpose yards. In second quarter, Gaither’s rising junior quarterback Tyler Valdez connected on a 39-yard pass to rising senior wide receiver Trenton Jackson but the drive ended in a missed field goal.

The Cowboys defense held Sickles scoreless with contributions from rising senior linebackers Estefano Feliciano (sack and a tackle-for-loss) and Decalon Brooks (forced fumble). Also rising junior defensive lineman Justin Roberts had a forced fumble and tackle-for-loss.

Sickles rising junior dual-threat quarterback Jordan McCloud hit on 4-of-8 of his passes for 55 yards but the Gryphons offense only had six positive rushing attempts for the half.

On defense, Gryphons’ rising senior linebacker Nick Heikkinen had two tackle-for-losses and a quarterback pressure, rising junior defensive back Jontray Hunter had two tackle-for-losses and in the second quarter rising junior linebacker Andrew Wilkerson had 4 tackles and a tackle-for-loss.

In the second half of the jamboree, the host Alonso defeated Steinbrenner 18-10. The Ravens scored on their first two drives (80 yards and 60 yards) and had a 75-yard interception return for a score by rising senior athlete Chris Anderson. In Alonso’s first drive, the big plays came from rising sophomore fullback Jael Feliz with a 28-yard run and rising junior athlete Jaylen Striker, a 23-yard run and a 4-yard touchdown run. Their second drive was aided by a pass interference penalty on the Ravens only pass of the half and the drive was capped by a 24-yard touchdown run by rising senior running back Yafeo Davis.

Defensively, in addition to Anderson’s pick-6, rising seniors Obie Cruz had three quarterback pressures and a tackle-for-loss, Omar Lupuku had a sack, Cyle Watts had a sack, and rising sophomore David Marino-Silver had an end zone interception to stop the Warriors last threat.

Steinbrenner’s rising senior quarterback Cason Byrd went 7-for-15 for 124 yards passing, two interceptions, and 38 yards rushing. Rising senior wide receiver/kick returning Brett Bitter had 83 all-purpose yards and rising senior running back David Smiley added a 1-yard touchdown run. Rising senior kicker Noah Ruggles was successful on both his 45-yard field goal and only extra point try and he had a touchback on his only non-onside kickoff attempt.

Warriors defense had a sack and tackle-for-loss from rising senior defensive back Ryan Bogdanski, fumble recovery and tackle-for-loss by rising junior Juan Bautista, and a sack and quarterback pressure from rising senior linebacker Dane Coleman.
