All Is Not Decided

Just a quick reminder that even though the vast majority of teams know their postseason fate at this point, there are some results that could cause us to enjoy some bonus football on a Monday Night. Although many teams will play their games for the right to determine first and second in their districts, there are three scenarios that could end up in tiebreakers. Here are the three that we are watching.

District 7A-7
This one could be cut-and-dry, or it could end in chaos. The cut-and-dry results are based on a Kathleen win versus Lakeland and a Bartow win versus Winter Haven. In that case, Kathleen are your district champions and Bartow are the runners-up. The chaos ensues if the Yellow Jackets defeat the Blue Devils and the Dreadnaughts defeat Kathleen. That means there will be a 3-way tie for both postseason spots between Bartow, Lakeland and Kathleen. If Winter Haven beats Bartow and Kathleen defeats Lakeland, the Red Devils are your district champions and there would be a 3-way tie for one spot in the postseason between Bartow, Lakeland and Winter Haven. Finally, if Winter Haven beats Bartow and Lakeland beats Kathleen, then Lakeland are your district champions and Kathleen are the runners-up. The winner of this district would host either Sickles, Wharton or Freedom, while the runners-up are guaranteed a trip to Dad’s Stadium versus Plant on the 13th.

District 7A-8
Plant has wrapped up this district winning their 11th-consecutive title, but there’s still the possibility of a tiebreaker if Sickles were to lose to Freedom on Friday. That would cause a 3-way tie between Sickles, Freedom and Wharton to determine the postseason representative. One of those three teams will be on the road at the winners of District 7A-7 with their opponents being either Lakeland, Bartow or Kathleen.

District 7A-10
Countryside are guaranteed a playoff spot at this point and will either finish as champions with a win versus East Lake, or a road trip to Plant City if they were to lose to the Eagles in the first round. Should the Eagles lose and Pinellas Park defeats Seminole, then a 3-way tiebreaker for the runners-up spot between St. Petersburg, Pinellas Park and East Lake. As mentioned, the runners-up in this district will be on the road at Plant City in round one. The champions of this district will host the winner of East Bay-Tampa Bay Tech on November 13th.
