Berkeley Prep senior running back Nelson Agholor became the first private school athlete in 11 years to win the Guy Toph trophy and only the sixth in the 72-year history of the award given to Hillsborough County’s top high school football player of the season.
The last private school player to earn the award, which is voted on by the county’s coaches, was Jesuit’s Gary Godsey in 1998. Fittingly, Godsey, now an assistant coach at Berkeley, was on hand for the presentation of the trophy by Toph’s son, Joe –> See HERE
