PINELLAS COUNTY RECRUITING

A Playmaking Patriot: Pinellas Park’s Dale Foster

Get ready Pinellas Park–and Pinellas County–the comparisons to Christian McCaffrey are coming whether you like it or not. There’s yet another talented athlete walking the halls of Pinellas Park and if he even matches–much less tops–his numbers from last season, the comparisons might not be so far-fetched. 12565498_10153547145864024_2243828011344399258_n

In his first season on varsity for Head Coach Kenny Crawford and his P-Park squad, Dale Foster (5-10/175) rushed for 1,046 yards on just 105 carries–that’s good for a ten yard average–or better yet a first down every time he carries the rock. He also caught seven passes for 185 yards and a touchdown–which was good for nearly 27 yards per catch for the Patriots. Oh, and from his cornerback position this season, Foster totaled 17 tackles, an interception and recorded nine passes defensed.

Foster’s size (right now at least) is still two inches shorter and about 25 pounds lighter than the aforementioned runner-up to the Heisman Trophy from Stanford, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t find some size in the coming months and years. If you watch his film though, you’ll see why he bears a slight resemblance.

From his style of running, to the speed in the open field and his flexibility to be lined up all over the field is where you start. Foster’s footwork is fun to watch and he’s not afraid to run directly between the tackles and find someone to hit before they hit him. As mentioned, his speed is legit–far from “deceptive”–and he’s a threat once he breaks around the edge and sets a course for the end zone.

We can’t wait to see how Coach Crawford finds ways to use this versatile athlete when the pads start popping in the spring and fall. Neither should you.
