BCP, July 5, 2019- All good things come to an end eventually. Today we bring you four seniors (in no particular order) for the middle of your week, that inevitably wrapped up their high school football careers this past season; with top-tier shoes to fill. Stay tuned- up next are four 2018 defensive graduates who are leaving production gaps and moving on to greater beginnings.
- Venice High QB, Hayden Wolff- Size and athleticism run strong in the veins of this 6’5” 215-pound student-athlete and three-star quarterback. Hayden committed to Old Dominion Unversity this past December, carrying his star-studded academics of a 4.0 GPA and a 27 ACT in pair with his offer. In 14 games played per MaxPreps, this gunslinger posted 2,684 passing yards with 189 completions on 299 attempts, totaled 191.7 YPG, ran in two scores himself and threw 24 touchdowns courtesy of his quick release and composure in the pocket. On the court, Wolff recorded 9.4 PPG, 1.0 APG, 8.8 RPG, (board man gets paid) 0.8 SPG, and 1.2 BPG, with 245 total points in 26 games played. The Indians and their supportive crowd won’t suffer too much, as Hayden’s younger brother, Weston Wolff is still cutting up in the green and white as an incoming junior 6’5″ 195-pound wide receiver.

2. Plant High RB, Walter Wilbon III- This 5’11’ 205-pound, three-star running back and Ohio University (not the Buckeyes) commit is a true force to be reckoned with on the gridiron as an all-purpose back. Walter can catch and run around, through, and over you in the blink of an eye. In 13 games played, the senior captain racked up (cracking typing fingers) 1,551 rushing yards on 178 carries, averaging 8.7 YPC with 119.3 YPG, 17 rushing TDs, had 19 receptions for 196 yards with 5 of those catches good for TDs, collected 475 return yards, PUNTED the rock 3 times for 112 yards with a long-kick of 43 inside the 20-yard line and even completed 1 of 2 passes, throwing a 67-yard score! Wilbon’s in-traffic awareness, agility, and breakaway speed are un-matched- collegiate teams better mark Ohio on their calendars now, because they’re in for a treat.
3. Clearwater Central Catholic WR, Jerjuan Newton- This 6′ (weight not listed) University of Toledo commit and two-sport athlete turned a ton of heads as a dual-position player. The three-star cornerback and wide out’s shifty footwork and vision in the open field aided greatly in CCC’s scoreboard efforts. Over 12 games played, the senior captain and his stick em’s tacked on 68 catches for 1,076 yards, averaging 15.8 YPC, 7 receiving TDs, 202 rushing yards on 23 carries, averaging 8.8 YPC, 6 TDs, 73 total tackles with 9 TFLs, (31 solo), 5.6 TPG, 1 sack, 2 INTs including a pick-six, and forced a fumble. In 16 games on the hardwood, Newton tallied 9.9 PPG, 3.2 APG, 4.8 RPG, 3.1 SPG, and 159 total points his senior campaign.

4. Countryside High TE, Reece Metheney- The 6’2″ 220-pound Florida Institute of Technology commit and tight end carried a large load on his shoulders this past season; leading the team in receiving yards, the district in receiving yards, and made the All-star and All-County team. Metheney’s bullish blocks and sneaky precise routes kept the Cougars in winning reach all season long. In 10 games played as a senior leader, Reece amassed 605 receiving yards on 31 receptions, averaging 19.5 YPC, a few tackles at strong safety and 7 endzone finds with his mitts.
