Fresh Force: 2022 Freedom DT Tawfiq Thomas Breaking Down Offensive Barriers

Tampa, April 8, 2019- Happy Friday all. Today we take a glimpse into one of the Patriots’ key disruptors (if not ‘THE’ key disruptor) on their defensive line, defensive tackle and BCP E7TC camper, Tawfiq Thomas.

“I’m trying to hit the weights harder and condition more because I don’t like coming off the field; I never benched or” explained defensive tackle, Tawfiq Thomas, in response to his offseason and upcoming season goals.

On film, the high school rookie proved his worth early on, punishing offensive backfields and plugging gaps with his massive 6’2” 280-pound next-level frame (I repeat, as a FRESHMAN). He possesses a variety of power and finesse moves in his back pocket for any situation, and even contributed on Freedom’s offensive line this past season.

“My toughest and favorite part about being an interior lineman on defense is when I get double teamed, I give all I got to get passed them.”

“I’m a team player and I will do whatever assignment coach tells me to do. I feel I can really make it far if I stay on track; also colleges really like my size as a freshman.”

Tawfiq sheds blocks with ease, courtesy of his brutish mentality and if he’s not the first one to breach the line, you can count on him endlessly for the assist. Don’t get caught flat-footed or you’ll be gasping for air on your back- no remorse for your feelings in his relentless pursuit of the ball carrier. On BCP big skills camp day this past February, the local big men competition was stiff, but Tawfiq was a young one that stood out with his natural strength and hand-eye coordination.

“Give all you got and never give up no matter what,” the tenacious lineman stated simply, when asked about the best piece of advice received on or off the field. “On game day, I like to listen to Meek Mill, Lil Baby, Kodak Black, and NBA YoungBoy.”

In 10 games played according to MaxPreps, Thomas posted 41 total tackles, forced a fumble, tallied 3 sacks, 4 QB hurries and racked up 16 TFL’s. These numbers are just the beginning for this ambitious athlete, and nothing you do or say will hold him back from achieving his high-ceiling potential.
