High School Football
- Armwood named Kyle Worden, as it’s new Defensive Coordinator. Worden was an assistant at Nature Coast this past season.
- Bloomingdale and Freedom are still searching for their next Head Coach.
High School Basketball
- Bartow Senior Tony Bradley was named the 2015-16 Florida Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year. The University of North Carolina signee averaged 22.8 points and 12.6 rebounds.

NCAA Basketball
March Madness got underway, with the story of the first round being the notable upsets;
- (15) Middle Tennessee State, shocked, arguably the overall favorite in Michigan State, raining down a barrage of 3 pointers at a 60% clip, to secure the 90-81 upset.
- (14) Stephen F. Austin out ‘Mountaineered’ the number (3) West Virginia team, creating havoc with their own version of up tempo defense, resulting in a 70-56 victory.
- (13) Hawaii beat a short handed (4) Cal team 77-66.
- (12) Yale got its first tournament victory since Kennedy was President, besting (5) Baylor 79-75.
- (12) Arkansas Little Rock took out (5) Purdue, in what might have been the best game of the opening round, an 85-83 double overtime affair.
- Other double digit seed first round winners were; (11) Wichita State, (11) Gonzaga, (11) Northern Iowa, (10) Syracuse, and (10) Virginia Commonwealth.
