PASCO COUNTY RECRUITING

Field Goal(s): 3 Questions for Pasco QB, Michael Penix Jr.

The Pasco Pirates went through a bit of adversity this past season on the field posting a 4-6 record, but adversity can often spur growth in an individual and the team which appears to be something that’s happening. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is one of those examples for the Pirates and took a moment to catch-up with BCP to bring us quickly up to speed on a couple of topics.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder threw for 1,131 yards with twelve touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 117 yards rushing. Just recently, the southpaw signal-caller got to meet FSU’s Jimbo Fisher during an in-home for teammate Jayvaughn Myers giving the young man further reason to be excited about his confidence under center for Pasco and beyond. Penix Jr. also earned an Xecutives invite by virtue of his performance at the Ignite Showcase a few weeks ago.

Here now, is Michael Penix Jr. catching up with us about his growth as a player, his experience camping with BCP and the continued support he’s received along the way.

BCP – On a scale of 1-10, where would you rate your growth as a QB, and why?

Penix Jr.“I would rate myself at an 8 because I feel that I have grown a lot from all of the training and camps I’ve been to that taught me a lot about what I need to know as a QB–and with that it developed a better understanding in my mind as of what is needed to be known and these things helped me get to where I am now.”

BCP: How has camping with BCP over the last few years helped to develop your game?

Penix Jr.“BCP over the years has helped developed my game by teaching me not only the skills of a QB, but also life. The camp taught me proper mechanics and foot work a QB needs to improve his craft and with that help I am becoming a better player.”

BCP: How supportive has your family been starting high school football?

Penix Jr.“My family is very supportive, they are always there to cheer me on and always hope for the best of me. Having someone supporting you makes you feel more comfortable and confident about your actions–so you know that no matter what someone will be there for you.”
