Short Capsule: The road just got tougher for the King Lions. Not only will the Lions have to line up vs. the Hawks and the Terriers, but add defending State Champion, Jefferson Dragons to the district, and the playoff picture just got that much unclear. But, that’s just the way the Lions like it. King will be built to score and score fast on offensive. Greg Windham is arguably the best quarterback in Hillsborough County with a rocket arm and great pocket presence. Wide receivers Chris Murray and Taylor Gonzalez will get most of the attention from opposing defenses as they will be the “Go To” guys for Windham. The Lions will be forced to have some 2-way players in order for the defense to make an impact like the offense will. But, if King can protect Windham, run the ball enough to keep the defense honest and play good defense…they can surprise some people.

“Fun Fact”: The emergence of the King football program has been a long time coming. The 2010 King Lions missed the playoffs by 1 point. 2001, was the last time King made it to the state playoffs. At that time, Joe Severino was the head coach and the Lions entered as district runner-up with an 8-4 overall record.
