After we were notified that Clearwater Central Catholic 2014 LB/TE, Caanan Brown was offer by Virginia on 5/25, the 6-3/230lbs athlete verbally committed to Virginia today. Caanan said he received the verbal offer towards the start of spring ball and committed today while on an official visit to the university. “I fell in love with the school, the academics and the people,” says Brown.

Brown had 78 total tackles and 9 sacks last season for the 11-2 Maurdaders. He was 5th on the team in tackles and 1st on the team in sacks. Had double digit tackle games versus Lemon Bay, Palm Harbor and district rival Tampa Catholic.

Brown also held verbal offers from Buffalo and UMASS. “The football program sold it self. The academics are really important to me and I will be honoring my commitment to Virginia.”

He is tied for 7th as top returning sack leaders with 9 last season. Brown is quick enough to play ILB, rangy enough to play OLB and has size to leverage offensive linemen off the edge.
