Some of the best talent in the Bay Area will take the fields at Fishhawk Sport Complex next weekend as they compete in the 2nd Annual Bright House Sports Network/BCP 9 Route 7 on 7 Tournament.  This year the tournament moves from 14 teams to 16 with the defending Champion, Spoto Spartans attempting to take home the crystal “Newman Trophy” again.  The quarterbacks hilite the event; Bennie Coney (Plant City), Greg Windham (King) and Louie Pappas (Tarpon Springs) round out the top 2012 QBs and Chase Litton (Wharton), Chavarski Corbett (Tampa Catholic) and Trey Vandergrift (Strawberry Crest) top the class of 2014.  Highly anticipated QBs Shug Oyegunle (Gaither) and Cody Crouse (Bloomingdale) will give us a preview of what to expect from the two in the 2011 season.  We will also see what Tampa Bay Tech will do with their new Middleton QB transfer, Aaron Midthus and what Middleton will do at the vacant QB position.

Vernon Hargreaves, Richard Benjamin, Antonio Crawford, Lamarlin Wiggins and Chris Murray top the list of skill guys along with a host of others that will open eyes.  Lakewood is packed with young talent and will cross the bridge looking to gain respect of the Hillsborough teams and match up vs some district opponents.  Plant will arrive for the 1st time at 9 Route with a target on their back after playing well at the June Sling and Shoot and more than likely “doin their thang” at the Heath Evans 7 on 7 this weekend.

The tournament will begin on Friday, June 24th where the teams will compete in pool play.  Saturday, the teams will take the field for the double elimination tournament attempting to force their way to Sunday’s Bright House live televised Championship Game at 2p.
