Victory Christian will play Indian Rocks in the 2A state championship game on Friday at 1pm. Before the game, here are a few interesting facts about the program.

1. Evangel Christian opened in 1972. Had no football team from 1989-1999. 2000-2005 the Chargers were 38-25 with 5 playoff appearances, 1 District title and 1 state championship (2005).

2. Evangel Christian closed their doors in 2006 (Financial issues) and the majority of the Evangel displaced students enrolled at Victory Christian, VC was able to expand past 8th grade to high school and started up the football program that same year (2006).

3. After Evangel’s states championship in 2005, Victory Christian was the state runner up in 2006. Many of the same kids, same head coach (Dedrick Dodge) and close to the same result (10-4 in 2006).

4. Victory Christian is 12-1 this season. An early season 1 point loss to Berkeley Prep on the road. 8 games this season the Storm scored 30 points or more.

5. LB Cecil Cherry has more the 40 FBS offers and has been a Tennessee verbal commit since spring of 2014. Leads the team in tackles and second on the team in rush yards.

8. QB Caleb Lewis son of Victory Christian head football coach, Tommy Lewis was the 2013 FHSAA 2A Player of the Year, has 5 FBS/FCS offers and on the brink of posting another 2000 yard passing year.
