5 Things I Learned While Watching The Sunset

With an ice-tea, foot-rest and iPhone in hand, reflection time was much needed. Looking at the sunset, a few observations became super obvious…

BRIGHTER IS BETTER
When kids show up to a camp, combine or showcase with the bright color attire, naturally he/she will standout. The objective is to get people to see you. The second part: He/she better show out. Kids are into the bright, almost offensive colors. The “Brighter the Better.” The neat thing is, the bright colors almost match with anything. Red shorts, lime green cleats, no problem. Bright yellow socks with matching shorts, purple shirt, no problem.

GOOD PASSERS MAKE THE CAMP GO ROUND
It’s difficult to have a quality, competitive passing session at a camp without good passers. The better the quarterbacks, the better 1 on 1 and 7 on 7 skilled session will be. The receivers will run harder, perform better and fight to make plays. As the receivers step their game up, so will the defenders!

BLAME IT ON NATE
Nate Craig will finally get to show the area why he is one of the top dogs in the Nation. We predict, often he will make defensive players look bad and put plenty on his highlight film. We are going to tell you right now, if “Stuff” doesn’t workout as planned when playing Tampa Catholic…”Just Blame Nate.” Lots of defensive game plans will be going out the window.

THE PASS RUSHER DRIVES UP THE DEMAND
The athlete making the pretty catches, taking the handoff and running for 85 yards, makes the 1-handed interception are the most entertaining and very much needed on a college roster. After the “Stud QB” the pass rusher has the highest demand. Take a look at the number of defensive ends ranked in the national recruiting polls. Then refer to the BCP ranking to count the number of defensive linemen ranked. The long, athletic, agile, speed rushers hold so much value because they can manipulate an offense game plan. Protecting the quarterback is usually the primary objective on passing plays. Because so many college football programs are so “Pass Happy,” that guy who can make his life difficult in the pocket will have plenty of demand and value.

OFFERS MAKE THEM COMPLACENT
Kids think they have arrived once they start to get a few oral offers from college coaches. It seems like offers provide a false sense of security to high school athletes and their effort, hunger and competitiveness takes a hit because of it.
