5 Hoopers to watch on the Hardwood this season

Malik Hall at the Spring Breakdown Showcase

Malik Hall, Academy at the Lake 2014 PG
THE UPSIDE: Awesome in transition. Has the speed and quickneess to push the ball up the floor and become a facilitator or scorer. Love his lateral movement on offense and defense. Handles the ball extremely well. Can run the offense in a half court set or in a fast break situation.

THE MUSH: Undersized. Needs to sprout a few inches to really become an attractive prospect. Needs to make quicker decisions in a spilt second, will come with experience.

EXPECTATIONS: Really good season, especially in the scoring category. Will get his teammates involved more and really put up good numbers statistically.

Marshall Holmes, Berkeley Prep 2014 G 6-2
THE UPSIDE: Handles the ball well enough to be a point guard. Shoots the ball well enough to move to the shooting guard. A hybrid player with athleticism and mental toughness. Has the full complement of speed, lateral quickness and jumping ability. He also gets his teammates involved in the game as a point guard would, sees the floor and has the vision to find the open player.

THE MUSH: Can get HOT from the outside, but will need to be more consistent in doing so. Has some length, but will need to increase overall upper and lower body strength.

EXPECTATIONS: Duplicate his junior season

George Brammeier, Bloomingdale 2014 C 6-8
THE UPSIDE: This player has the size at 6 foot 8 inches. He can run the floor and move without the ball. Solid lateral quickness for a 6-8 prospect. Good passer out of the low post or on the perimeter. He can alter shots in the lane because of his length.

THE MUSH: Has to get tougher in the paint. Will see very few players his size this season and should dominate the interior. Will need to establish position on the block and demand the basketball more.

EXPECTATIONS: Would like to see him evolve into a 12-15 point scorer and average double digits in rebounds. Doable if George mentally prepares himself to be a dominate force this year.

Maurice Moore, Jefferson 2015 F
THE UPSIDE: Young player who is still developing. However, has a high upside. Good scorer inside the paint and a hustle player. Plays well on the defensive side of the ball and is effective on the glass.

THE MUSH: Will need to develop his perimrter game to become a mismatch for larger forwards and keep the smaller guards honest. Ball handling is solid, but can always use improvement in order to help improve his all round game.

EXPECTATIONS: 15 points and 8 rebound season for the Dragons. We know he can score, but expect him to be a more consistent aggressive scorer this season. He wants to be a force in the paint and this attitude will allow him to do so.

Andrew Sanders, Plant 2014 PF 6-5 200
THE UPSIDE: Much more athletic than given credit for. Understands spacing, ball movement and has a good post game. Can play facing the bucket or with his back to the basket. Really good feet on defense, quick hands and runs the floor.

THE MUSH: Will need to extend his shooting range. Can knock down the 12 footer, but will need to become a perimeter threat to separate himself from others at the position.

EXPECTATIONS: Will average a double/double again this year, but scoring will increase. Anticipating 20 points per game this year.
