Miami Central defeated Gainesville to be crowned the Florida 6A state football champs. With a steady run attack and a massive offensive line, the Central Rockets dominated the Gainesville Hurricanes in every way. The scoreboard reflected a 37-14 final score. The stat sheet reflected the Rockets beating the Hurricanes in each major statistical category including time of procession, first downs and yards from scrimmage. Below are a few standout players.

JOSEPH YEARBY, MIAMI CENTRAL 2014 RB
Stats: 23 attempts, 125 net yards rushing and 2 TDs
The 2014 Florida State commit was simply a problem for the Gainesville defense. Most of his yards came after contact. He was very elusive and tough. He broke several long runs which ultimately put the nail in the coffin for any kind of Gainesville comeback. Yearby scored from 35 and 19 yards out and was clearly the best player on the field.

EMILIO NADELMAN, MIAMI CENTRAL 2013 K
The kicker usually only get this much love when he wins the ball game with a heroic kick in the final minutes of the game. Emilio is a South Florida commit who displayed a huge leg from start to finish. Several of his kickoffs landed out the back of the endzone and he nailed field goals from 22, 38 and 45 yards out with room for more. Arguably the best kicker I have seen in years.

AHMAD THOMAS, MIAMI CENTRAL 2013 LB
Stats: 7 solo tackles, 13 total tackles and 1 TFL
Committed to Oklahoma, Thomas was a bad man today. Played like a big bully and dominated the line of scrimmage. Chased down ball carries and was vicious with his tackles.

RALPHEAL WEBB, GAINESVILLE 2013 RB
Stats: 19 carries, 155 net rushing yards, 2 rush TDs
Webb busted a big one to put Gainesville on the board late in the first quarter. Displaying plenty of speed without getting into top gear. Scored each of Gainesville 2 touchdowns. Averaged 8.2 yards per carries and was Gainesville’s only offensive threat.

KEITH KELSEY, GAINESVILLE 2013 LB
Stats: 11 solo tackles, 14 total tackles, 2.5 TFLs
Played like a monster. Ran down ball carriers, filled gaps and displayed lots of team leadership. Kept his defense fighting and believing there was a chance a big play could be made to keep the Hurricanes in the ball game.
