2012 Unranked, Underrated

Brent O’Neal, Canterbury, RB, ’12 – O’Neal averaged a stunning 9.5 yards per carry.  That’s basically a first down every time he carries the rock.  He has excellent speed and great balance.  His numbers match up with some of the best in the state.  On just 130 carries, O’Neal ended the season with 1235 yards and 17 rushing TDs to help Canterbury to an 8-3 overall record.  O’Neal finished his junior year ranked 8th in class 1B in total rushing yards and 2nd in district 1B-5.

Shadow Williams dives to make tackle vs Jefferson ball carrier

Shadow Williams, Land ‘O Lakes, LB, ’12 – There can only be a few other first names that are better than “Shadow.”  BCP had a chance to see Williams up close at the March 26th BHSN Ignite Elite Combine, where he was one of the standout performers.  He is very nimble and has great field awareness.  Last season, Williams totaled 11 sacks as a LB and averaged 12 tackles per game.  You do the math.  He is a force on defense and is a legitimate division 1 prospect.

Aaron Midthus, Middleton, QB, ’12 – The Middleton Tigers have gone through a few changes over the past couple of years, but they have always had a very versatile QB.  Aaron Midthus is no different.  No, he did not throw for 2500 yards or rush for another 1K, but he did produce solid numbers on a mediocre team.  Averaging 129.9 yards per game in the air, Midthus finished 14 th in class 2A and 3 in the district with 1299 pass yards (1-Blake Rice, Robinson; 2-Patton Chillura, Jesuit).  He is a very good runner and should have a better season in 2011.

Antwon Armstrong, Plant City, BD/WR, ’12 – The list of names that are coming out of the Plant City camp keeps impressing.  One that is not heard as often is Antwon Armstrong.  How does this sound: 5 ints, 32 solo tackles, 5 pass breakups and 2 fumble recoveries?  Armstrong also attended the March 26th BHSN Ignite Elite Combine, where he was one of the standout performers.  He is able to play any position in the secondary and also doubles as a WR.  An outstanding athlete with tremendous upside.

Dillon Floyd, Carrollwood Day School, WR/DB, ’12 – As far as wide receivers go, I am positive that there are some that are faster, stronger and more athletic that Dillon Floyd.  But, there are not many that are more productive.  Floyd average 16.77 yards per reception in 2010, totaling 738 yards on 44 catches.  He is a sure handed receiver who clocks a 4.7 electronic 4o yard dash and carries a GPA close to his 40 time.  Floyd measures in a 6’1” and has great football instinct which has help him start to gain some college interest.
