In a standout performance that defined an extraordinary season, Dallas Golden emerged as the Big County Preps Player of the Year for 2023. A versatile and dynamic athlete from Berkeley Prep, Golden showcased his prowess across various positions, earning the title of Athlete (ATH). His leadership and exceptional skills played a pivotal role in guiding Berkeley Prep to their first-ever state championship earlier this month. In the championship game, Golden’s impact was undeniable as he amassed a staggering 2,200 all-purpose yards and contributed two crucial touchdowns. This stellar performance under pressure solidified his reputation as a game-changer and a key figure in his team’s historic triumph.

Dallas Golden’s season-long statistics provide a comprehensive snapshot of his extraordinary capabilities on the field. With an impressive 1,467 rushing yards and a total of 24 touchdowns, Golden consistently demonstrated his ability to break through defenses and find the end zone. Notably, he recorded four games with more than 200 all-purpose yards, showcasing his versatility as both a rusher and receiver. On the defensive side of the ball, Golden displayed his prowess with five interceptions, further highlighting his impact on multiple facets of the game. His exceptional contributions throughout the season undoubtedly set him apart, making Dallas Golden a deserving recipient of the Big County Preps Player of the Year award for 2023.

Luke Knight, the standout quarterback from Wiregrass Ranch and the Big County Preps Offensive Player of the Year for 2024, has left an indelible mark on the football field with his exceptional performance. Knight showcased his remarkable skills throughout the season, amassing an impressive total of 3,872 passing yards, averaging an outstanding 323 passing yards per game. His precision as a passer is evident in his remarkable 64% completion rate, demonstrating a rare combination of accuracy and efficiency. Knight’s prowess in the red zone was particularly noteworthy, as he threw an impressive 43 touchdown passes while minimizing mistakes with just 7 interceptions. With a stellar 127 QBR, Knight not only displayed a deep understanding of the game but also emerged as a true leader on the field, solidifying his status as one of the most formidable quarterbacks in the league.

In a standout season that showcased dominance on the defensive front, Michael McClenton, Ocoee 2026 DE emerged as the Big County Preps Defensive Player of the Year. The 2026 defensive end exhibited an unparalleled level of disruption, amassing an impressive 31 total sacks, 45 tackles for loss, and a remarkable 202 total tackles. McClenton’s ability to consistently penetrate opposing offensive lines and disrupt plays in the backfield made him a force to be reckoned with. Additionally, his impact extended beyond tackles, as he forced three crucial fumbles, further solidifying his reputation as a game-changing defensive presence. With an exceptional combination of speed, strength, and football IQ, McClenton’s performance not only earned him individual recognition but also significantly contributed to Ocoee’s defensive success throughout the season.

Cameron Canard, the standout kicker for Cypress Creek High School’s football team, has rightfully earned the title of Big County Preps Specialist of the Year. With an impressive 41.5-yard kickoff average and a total of 2,741 kickoff yards, Canard consistently demonstrated his exceptional skills in the kicking game. Additionally, his 30-yard punt average showcased his versatility as a specialist. Canard’s accuracy was remarkable, making an outstanding 54 out of 56 PATs, and he showcased his long-range ability by successfully converting 9 out of 12 field goals, with a remarkable long kick of 53 yards. His exceptional performance throughout the season not only contributed significantly to his team’s success but also solidified his reputation as one of the top specialists in the region.

Dominick Ciao, the esteemed coach of Berkeley Prep, has rightfully earned the title of Big County Preps Coach of the Year for his outstanding leadership during the season. Under his guidance, the Buccaneers achieved a remarkable 13-2 record, culminating in the triumphant capture of the 2M FHSAA State Title with a decisive 28-20 victory over Miami Norland. Ciao’s strategic prowess and mentorship were evident as Berkeley Prep secured an impressive 10 consecutive wins en route to their championship. The culmination of Ciao’s illustrious 42-year career in high school coaching, with 33 years as a head coach, was marked by the sweet taste of victory as he secured his first-ever state title, solidifying his legacy as a coaching legend.
