The 2014 football season officially came to a close last Saturday Night. We were fortunate to see some outstanding individual efforts during the championship weekends. Here are the Top 9
1. Caleb Lewis, Victory Christian 2015 QB – 23/28, 1 INT, 384 yards and 6 pass TDs. Lewis was on fire. Made a few incredible throws and was on the money.
2. Mark Walton, Booker T. Washington 2016 RB – 19 carries, 184 yards, 3 TDs. Walton was held in check the first half. Not so much the second half. Walton went bonkers gaining 159 of his 184 yards in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
3. Maurice Alexander, Booker T. Washington 2015 QB – 15 for 20, 331 pass yards and 4 TDs. Only missed on 5 passes and 3 of those were dropped by his receivers.
4. Anthony Jones, Miami Central 2015 RB – 29 carries, 199 rushing yards, 3 rush TDs, 6.9 ypr. Tough running versus one of the best defenses in the state. He earned his check, mainly out of the wildcat formation.
5. Brice Ford, Victory Christian 2015 ATH – Brice Ford 7 catches, 110 receiving yards, 3 receiving TDs, 5 tackles and 1 INT. Rarely came off the field and made plays.
6. Jarkeice Davis, Port St. Joe, 2015 ATH – 27 rush attempts, 146 rush yards, 2 rush TDs, 5.4 yards per rush. The one and only offensive threat for PSJ. Even though the opponent knew he was getting the ball, they couldn’t stop him.
7. Brandon Boyce, St. Thomas Aquinas 2015 DL – 9 tackles, 0.5 sacks, 4.5 TFL. Boyce was super disruptive. Osceola could not get their offense going because Boyce was in their backfield.
8. Nicholas Bosa, Thomas Aquinas 2016 DL – 7 tackles, 0.5 sacks 2.0 TFL, 2 FR, 1 CF. Bosa lived up to every bit of the hype. Took on 2 blockers most of the night and still won those battles. Built a tent in the Osceola offensive backfield.
9. Chandler Cox, Apopka 2015 ATH – 24 carries, 105 yards, 1 rush TD, 4.4 ypr and 1 pass TD – Doesn’t look like much, but if you watched the game, you know just how much Cox meant to his team. Showed fight and grit!
